NORTON, VA – Marie Wampler, age
88, died Sunday morning in Mountain View Regional Long Term Care after an
extended illness. She attended the
Freedom of Worship Church in Norton. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and
great grandmother. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Nelson “Big Honey” Wampler in 2003, a granddaughter,
Laura Danielle Wampler in 2006 and three sisters.
She is survived by a daughter,
Norma Gardner and husband Charles, Norton, VA; sons, Nelson Wampler, Jr. and wife
Diane, Abingdon, VA, Randy Lynn Wampler and wife Yvonne, Norton, VA; 6
grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson; sisters, Ramona
Carter Allen and husband Jack, Laurel, MD, Betty Jo Hill and husband Frank,
Norton, VA; several nieces and nephews.

Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00
PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Darrell Bolling officiating. Interment
will be at 1:30 PM on Thursday in Gray Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the funeral
home at 1:00 PM to go in procession to the cemetery.
BRUCE MINOR
WISE, VA – Bruce Minor, 69, died
Thursday, April 26, 2012 at his residence. He worked in the coalfields for 50
years and was owner/operator of Bruce Minor Trucking for 20 of those years.
He is survived by his wife, Sue
Minor of Wise, VA; one daughter, Vickie Gibson and her husband Dennis of Wise,
VA; one son, Donald Minor and his wife Katie of Norton, VA; three
grandchildren, Travis Gibson, Amanda Stanley and Megan Minor; two great
grandsons, Cason and Caden Gibson; one brother, Charles Minor of Norton, VA and
one sister, Pauline Hayes of Norton, VA

M. BARDIN THROWER, JR.
NORTON, VA - M. Bardin Thrower, Jr.,
born on January 11, 1946 in Bristol, TN died peacefully on Thursday afternoon,
April 26, 2012 in Norton Community Hospital.
He was the son of Monroe B. and Hazel W.
Thrower.
Professionally, a Certified Public
Accountant, Bardin lived in Norton for most of his life. He attended John I
Burton High School in Norton before studying at the University of North
Carolina Chapel Hill. He left school briefly to work in Lake Tahoe, CA and
returned to finish his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the
University of TN. After graduation, his first job was with Commerce Union Bank
in Nashville, TN. It was in Nashville that he met his wife of 43 years, Eleanor
House Thrower. In 1972, he returned to Norton and began work in his father's
CPA firm, Thrower & Thrower. The firm has been in continuous operation
since 1948, and is currently known as Thrower, Blanton and Associates.
Bardin is survived by wife Eleanor; his
brother John, and wife Kim Thrower of Austin, TX; his sister Susan and Dr.
William F. Cale of Harrisonburg, VA. He also is leaving behind four children:
Elizabeth A. Coberly, and husband Noah, of White Post, VA; Monroe B. Thrower,
III, and wife Lisa of Atlanta, GA; Patrick M. Thrower, and wife Katy, of
Houston, TX; and Katherine M. Thrower of Johnson City, TN as well as six
grandsons: William, Hume and Duncan Coberly; Monroe (IV) and Malcolm Thrower
and Tuk Thrower.
He was a longtime member of the Norton
Presbyterian Church and the Lonesome Pine Country Club and an avid supporter of
University of Virginia College at Wise and the student and athletic
organizations at John I. Burton. He
supported and coached Norton Little League, Norton Youth Football and Norton
Girls Softball. He was active with the
Kline Foundation and supported Pro Art.
He was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha
Fraternity, Tau Chapter, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants,
Virginia Society of Public Accountants, Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants,
and the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was a commissioned Kentucky Colonel.
Bardin loved music, real estate, Southwest
Virginia and classic Western films.

family burial will take place on Monday, April 30th at Powell Valley Memorial

ALBIE JEAN INGLE
NORTON, VA – Albie Jean Ingle,
76, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 in Norton Community Hospital. She was born
in Seco, Kentucky to the late Henry and Goldie Thacker Williams. Also preceding
her in death were four brothers, John Henry Williams, Robert Williams, Edward
Williams and Gary Williams and a sister, Gracie Fields.
She is survived by her husband of
31 years, John Ingle of Norton, VA; a daughter, Sandra Sturgill of Norton, VA;
a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Melissa Fields of Sevierville, TN; two
grandchildren, Willie Brian and Shelley Dingus of Norton, VA and Jessica Fields
of Sevierville, TN; one brother and sister-in-law, Freddie and Linda Williams
of Norton, VA; three sisters, Hazel Minnix, Joyce and Aubrey Wilson and Glenda
and Mark Mullins all of Norton, VA; 5 great grandchildren, Ryan and Jonathan
Dingus, Jade-Tresa White, Ella-Marie White and Leigh-Mark White; several aunts,
uncles and cousins.

ROBIN LYNN SHOCKLEY
NORTON, VA - Robin Lynn Shockley, 46, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in Johnson City Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Norton and a 1983 graduate of John I. Burton High School. She was preceded in death by her mother, Iva Pearl Shockley.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Autumn and Dave Lawson of Wise, VA; a grandson, Thomas Lee Lawson of Wise, VA; her father, Bill "Moe" Shockley of Norton, VA; brothers, William R. Shockley, Dwayne D. Shockley and Clayton D. Shockley all of Wise, VA. Johnny R. Shockley of Big Stone Gap, VA; a sister, Mary Shockley of Ft. Meyers, FL; several nieces and nephews.

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Naomi Suffridge
Fawbush, 93, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at her residence in Jacksonville, FL.
She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law Greg and Ashira
Fawbush in 1990, her husband Col. Andrew Tyler Fawbush in 1991, her sisters,
Edna Patterson and Ruth Sowder, and her brother William Suffridge.
Surviving are her daughter and
son-in-law, Patricia and Henry Webb of Hermitage, TN; her son and
daughter-in-law, Andrew J. and Lin Fawbush of Jacksonville, FL, 8
grandchildren, Craig (Barbara) Webb, Chuck (Diane) Webb, Andrew Fawbush, Jr.,
Tyler Fawbush, Karin Fawbush, Michelle Fawbush, Lemore (Sean) Zausner, and Alan
(Karen) Weinstein, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside committal services will be
conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, May, 1, 2012 at Mountain Home National Cemetery in
Mountain Home, Tennessee TN with Dr. Henry Webb and Dr. Craig Webb officiating.
A memorial service will be held in
Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Southside United Methodist Church
at 11 A.M.

NORTON, VA – William Lloyd "Bill" Stokes,
64, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at his residence. He retired as director of
Norton Social Services with 31 years of service. He was a graduate of Clinch
Valley College and received his Masters Degree from Virginia Commonwealth
University. He was a member of the Norton Rescue Squad, Norton Police Auxiliary
and Norton United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father,
Lloyd Stokes.
He is survived by his wife, Diane
Stokes of Norton, VA; a daughter, Erin L. Stokes of Wise, VA; his mother, Anne
Stokes of Norton, VA; a granddaughter, Marley Stokes of Wise, VA; 3 step
children, B.J. Whitt of Goshen, VA, Tracy B. Wallace and Chris W. Whitt both of
Lexington, VA; sisters, Allison West and her husband Gary of Loveland, OH,
Elaine Bush and her husband Joe of Plainsboro, NJ; several nieces and nephews.

NORTON, VA - Catherine Lucille
Mullins, 94, died Thursday, April 19, 2012 at her residence. She was a former
employee at Park Avenue Hospital and Southwest Drug Store. She was a widow of
Clarence Amburgey, Herman Stidham and Ewing “Toots” Mullins. She was also
preceded in death by a brother, Fred G. Buttner; a son, Billy Carson Amburgey;
and a grandson, Joshua Stough.
Surviving are her daughters,
Shelby Jean Amburgey, Mollie Sue Trent and Teresa Stough and her husband Barry;
grandchildren, Fred Carson Ison, Don Trent and his wife Melanie, Mercedes

DIXIE RUTH VARNER
NORTON, VA - Dixie Ruth Varner,
82, died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Florida Hospital in Tampa, FL. Born in Harlan County, KY, she was a daughter
of Eugene and Grace (Yokum) Austin.
Dixie was a long time resident of Norton and was an employee of the
former Dixie Discount Store and of Magic Mart.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Norton. A daughter, Rebecca Lynn Pennington preceded
her in death, as did six brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by a son Rod R.
Varner and his wife, Anita of Verona, OH, and a daughter Jenny Hull and her
husband, Mike of Thonotosassa, FL, her ten grandchildren and fifteen great
grandchildren, and a special friend, Bea Varner.

LARRY WAYNE ADAMS
NORTON, VA - Larry Wayne Adams, 59, passed
away Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a loving husband, father,
grandfather, and pastor of Oles Hill Community Church in Norton. A veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam
era, he was retired from Old Dominion
Power Company, and currently was employed by Mountain Empire Older
Citizens. He was preceded in death by
his parents, Claude Lee and Anna P. (Sturgill) Adams.
Surviving are his wife, Andrea
Adams, his sons, Aaron and Matthew Adams, his daughter and son-in-law, Wendy
and Anthony Cooke, his grandchildren: Ashton Adams, Tanner Cooke, Emalee Cooke,
and Anthony (Lil Man) Cooke; his brother, Timothy Adams, Norton, and sister,
Violet Burton, Big Stone Gap, VA, and a host of family and friends and brothers
and sisters in Christ.

WISE, VA – Wanda Faye Malone, 70,
died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Norton. She was a daughter of the late Luther and
Fannie (Wells) Thacker, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Bruce
Thacker.
She is survived by 4 daughters,
Diane Gardner and Sherry Bryant of Wise, VA, Rose Jackson and Becky Gross of
Coeburn, VA; 2 sons, Joe Malone and John Malone both of Kingsport, TN; 3
sisters, Marie Adams and Ruth Hale both of Norton, VA, Jeanette Rowe of
Pensacola, FL; 2 brothers, Earnest Thacker of Standardsville, VA and David
Thacker of Lincoln Park, MI; her former husband
and his wife, Frank and Susie Malone of Kingsport, TN; 15 grandchildren; 17
great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

75, died Sunday, April 1, 2012 in Mountain View Regional Medical Center Long
Term Care. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Baxton Tolley, Sr. and
Dorothy Viola Moore Tolley; a brother, Ray Baxton Tolley, Jr. and a
brother-in-law, Dillard McGraw.
She is survived by her sister,
Gwenda McGraw of Norton, VA; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Winter of Gulfport, MS;
2 nieces, Beth Ann Cummings and her husband Tom of Beckley, W.VA, Marla Cain
and her husband Andy of Birmingham, AL; great niece, Abby Cain and a great
