NORTON, VA – Ada Scott Hunsucker,
89, died Saturday, June 23, 2012 in Mountain View Regional Medical Center Long Term
Care. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy Hunsucker in 1982 and
eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Thomas and Gladys Hunsucker of Norton, VA; 2 daughters and
sons-in-law, Janet and Fred Necessary of Norton, VA and Linda and Randy
Necessary of Wise, VA; two grandsons, Rusty and Martha Necessary and Justin and
Jessica Necessary; 2 great grandsons, Scott and Jade McDaniel and Joe
Necessary; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will
be conducted 11:00 AM Monday at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mike
Hunsucker officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 AM Monday at Hagy
& Fawbush Funeral Home to travel in procession to the cemetery.
DOROTHY WILLIS
NORTON, VA - Dorothy Jean Willis went to be with the Lord on Sunday June
17th 2012 at her home in Weirton WV. Dorothy was born in Wise county VA
daughter of the late Robert Taylor and Elizabeth Vaughn Willis. She was preceded
in death by her brothers, Eugene Willis, William H. Willis; sisters, Alma Ruth
Willis, Cornell Cooke, Irene Banks and Pharaba Willis; nephew, Bruce E. Willis; niece, Nancy E. Willlis.
She is survived by a daughter, Robin Willis Tate and husband
Robert; granddaughter, Amber D. Tate; great grandson, Dacoda M. Curtis; brother,
James H. Willis; nieces, Connie Thompson Partin, Vonda Thompson and Joyce
Thompson Phillips; nephews, Steve A. Willis and Ricky D. Willis; and several
great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5PM until 7PM on
Thursday June 21st 2012 at Hagy & Fawbush funeral home in Norton VA. The
memorial service will follow at 7PM with the Rev Teddy G. Phillips
officiating.
JAMIE ELLIS
NORTON, VA – Jamie Edward Ellis, 39, died Saturday, June 16, 2012
in Mountain View Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 6, 1972 to
Mary Elizabeth Livingston Ellis and the late Edward Ellis in Jenkins,
Kentucky. Jamie briefly attended college
at Kentucky State University focusing on business administration. Jamie made friends very easily and his best
friend since childhood was Major Griffey, Jr. He treasured this friendship
saying “I can always count on Major.”
Jamie loved to have fun and it howed in his outlook in life. Some of Jamie's greatest joys in life included
his dogs, hats and family especially his nieces and nephews; and we can not leave out his PS3
game system. He was proceeded in death by his father- Edward Ellis; and his
sister Karen (Rod) Taylor.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Livingston
Ellis, and he leaves in cherished memories his sister, Rita (Turner) Jones, and
his brother, Terry (Tamara) Livingston all of the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Jamie
had a host of both nieces and nephews in which he adored. He is survived by his aunts – Mary, Janie,
Sara (all living in Camden, SC) and uncles – James Livingston, Charles
Livingston, and Sam Livingston. Jamie
was once married to Amy Noe and they remained best of friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Wednesday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services will be
conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in
the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
BEULAH T. HALE
NORTON, VA – Beulah T. Hale, age
89, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in Mountain View Regional Medical
Center. Born in Dorchester, VA, she was a
daughter of the late James Arthur and Sarah (Hamilton) Thompson. She was a
member of Wilson’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband Roy Allen Hale; daughters, Vonda Lee Robbins and Paulette “Poxie” Hale;
sisters, Mary Elizabeth Brickey and Ruby Wilson; brothers, Harold Thompson, Alonzo
Thompson and Arthur “Johnny” Thompson.
She is survived by a daughter, Teresa
F. Morgan, Norton, VA; a brother, Herbert Thompson, Big Stone Gap, VA;
grandchildren, Shane Morgan, Sherry Bryant, Melissa Robbins, Melanie Maiden and
Scott Morgan; great grandchildren, Brandon Turner, Makenzie Turner, Sarah
Morgan, Alison Morgan, Seth Morgan, Sophia Morgan and Emily Bryant; several
nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friday 5-7 PM in the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM in
the chapel with the Reverend Stacey Potter officiating. Interment will be Saturday, June 9th.

DONALD RAY BATES
NORTON, VA, - Donald Ray Bates, 69, died Monday
June 4, 2012 at his home following an extended illness. Born in Jenkins, Kentucky, he was the
youngest child born to Landis D. and Mary Lou (Hayes) Bates. Don was a graduate of East Tenn. State
University, received his M.A. from Union College and his Ed. S. from the
University of Virginia. He taught in the
Wise County Schools system for thirty two years, and while there was a member
and a past president of the Wise County Education Association. For over twenty years he was an adjunct
faculty member of Mountain Empire Community College. He was both a real estate broker and
appraiser, and at his retirement was an associate of Ridgeview Real
Estate. Don was a member of the First
Baptist Church in Norton.
He was preceded in death by his
brothers and sister: Franklin Bates,
John Bates, Russell Bates, Robert Bates, Dewey Bates, Martin Bates, and Joyce
Bates.
Surviving are his wife, Charlene
Brooks Bates, his daughter, Mary Lee Hagy and her husband, Marty, a son, Robert
“Robbie” Bates and his wife, Patty, his grandchildren: Brianna Stallard, Mary Jo Stallard, Peyton
Stallard, Tia Bates, Jonah Smallwood, and Justin Webb; his sisters and brother:
Carrie Kilgore, Mary Holcomb, Ruth Puckett, Dixie Cox, Jean Hillman, Jacqueline
Hubbard, and James Bates.

NORTON, VA – Grace Flanary, 102,
died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at her residence. She was a member of the Church of
God in Norton and was a MEOC Volunteer. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Thomas Flanary and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, T.J.
and Betty Flanary of Norton, VA; 1 daughter, Linda and Larry Smith of Wise, VA,
2 granddaughters, Kelly Summer of Wise, VA, Tanya and James Clark, Pennington
Gap, VA; grandson, T.J. and Alicia Flanary, Jr.; great grandchildren, Richard (Bukie)
Reeves, Gracie Isabella Flanary, Presley Robin Flanary and J.T. Clark; sisters,
