NORTON, VA - Brandon Todd
Salyers, 26, died Monday, February 27, 2012 at the University of Virginia
Hospital in Charlottesville, VA. He was
preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Fred and Hazel Salyers.
Brandon is survived by his mother
and step father, Cindy and Roy Jessee of Norton, his sister, Jessica Salyers,
Castlewood, VA, his maternal grandparents, Henry and Shirlene Spangler,
Coeburn, VA, his nieces, Olivia and Jozalynn, and a very special caregiver,
Sherry Sawyer.
The family will receive friends, Thursday,
March 1 from 6-7 PM at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Services will be at 7 o’clock in the funeral
home chapel, with Dr. Mike Porter officiating.

JOE MORGAN
COEBURN, VA - Joe Morgan, 85, passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Wise. Born in Norton, Virginia, he was a son of Edward and Dosha Hammonds Morgan. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 19 years, Ovie Gibson Morgan and his second wife of 38 years, Nora Kokoska Morgan, two sons and one daughter. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his sons, James Morgan and his wife Willa of Bloomington, IN, Roger Morgan and his wife Linda of Coeburn, VA, Joe Mack Morgan and his wife Shelia of Monterey, TX, Billy Ray Morgan and his wife Benita of Fort Meyers, FL, Donnie Morgan of Kingsport, TN, Michaeal Morgan and his wife Celeste of Immokalee, FL, Eddie Morgan of Immokalee, FL, Ralph Morgan of Coeburn, VA; daughters, Nancy Martin and her husband Ken of San Jose, CA, Judy Taylor and her husband of Billy of La Belle, FL, Sandra Shular and her husband Richard of Big Stone Gap, VA, Brenda Sturgill and her husband Danny of Knoxville, TN, Rhonda Tipton of San Jose, CA, Mary Morgan Shockley of FL, Ellen Branham of Coeburn, VA and Maysele Speinwandel and her husband Jimmy of Coeburn, VA; 47 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; a twin sister, Maysele Perry of Wise, VA.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM Thursday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gordon Sexton officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 AM Friday at the funeral home to travel in procession to the cemetery.
DANNY CECIL COLLINS
NORTON, VA – Danny Cecil Collins,
60, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. He
retired from the City of Norton with 29 years of service as shop foreman. He
was a member of the Open Door Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Claude and Cora Collins and several siblings.
He is survived by his wife,
Patricia Ann Collins, of Norton; sons, Danny P. Collins, Matthew and Wanda
Collins and Michael Collins all of Norton, VA; a daughter, Amanda Gibson,
Norton, VA; 11 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Buddy and Melinda Collins,
Greenville, TN, Ronnie Collins of Coeburn, VA; 3 sisters, Claudette Fields of
Big Stone Gap, VA, Priscilla Brock and Donna Faye Collins, both of Wise, VA;
several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends
from 6-8:00 PM Saturday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services
will be conducted 1:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ralph
Turner and Rev. Dennis Scarborough officiating. Burial will follow in the
Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
ESTELLE LEONA TAYLOR
WISE, VA – Estelle Leona Taylor born July 6, 1929 passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012 in Hospice Care at Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Donald Taylor, mother, Edith E. Wells and various aunts and uncles.
She attended Mountain Empire Community College and worked for Century 21 of Wise. She attended Cosmetology School in Kingsport, TN and owned and operated her own salon in Wise. She also owned and operated Colonial Trailer Park in Wise.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda and her husband T.J. Skorupa, Priscilla and her husband John Murphy. She had 3 granddaughters, Shelley and her husband Paul Perry, Elizabeth Skorupa and Meghan Murphy McKnight. Her delight and joy was her 5 great grandchildren, Amber and Taylor Perry, Cliff Skorupa, Hannah and Jack McKnight. Also surviving is a sister, Katherine and her husband Kenneth Stallard and various nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 PM Tuesday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon Wednesday at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens with Bro. Steve Mosca officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 11:30 AM Wednesday to travel in procession to the cemetery.

JAMES McAMIS, SR.
James Darrell McAmis, Sr., 68,
died Thursday, February 2, 2012, at his home in Murfreesboro.
Born in Norton, Virginia, he was
the son of the late Fred Harry McAmis and Virginia Irene Adams McAmis. Jimmy was a retired heavy equipment operator.
He is survived by a son, James D.
“Jamie” McAmis, Jr. of Williamson, GA and several aunts, uncles and cousins
particularly of the Wise County and Norton, Virginia area.
Services will be 11:00 Friday,
February 10, at the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, with the Rev. Roger Barker
officiating. Family and friends will
gather from 10 – 10:30 AM Friday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in
Norton. They will then travel in
procession to the cemetery for services.
