ANTHONY LOBIONDO

WISE, VA – Anthony Salvatore LoBiondo, 37, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015. He was a graduate of J.J. Kelly High School where he member of the marching band. Anthony also earned his degree in Computer Science from the UVA Wise. He was employed at Tele-Med in Wise, Va. in the I.T. department as a software designer since 2007. He was currently the drummer of the band called The Weight. He also played with several other groups including Jaberwocky, The Marauders and Earth By Train. He was a former employee of the Holiday Inn in Norton, Va. and Wells, Waters and Gases in Wise, Va. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. LoBiondo; his mother, Linda Black Marrs; his grandfather, Lawrence H. Black; his aunt, Regina LoBiondo and a cousin, James Chapel Whitfield.

He is survived by his brother David B. LoBiondo and his wife Tracy of Norton, Va.; his niece, Lillian Catherine Ava LoBiondo of Norton, Va.; his stepmother, Patty F. LoBiondo of Lexington, Ky.; his grandmother, Irene W. Black of the home; grandparents, Thomas and Wanda Lobiondo of Harlan, Ky.; uncles, James H. Black and his wife Shawn of Louisville, Ky., Allen LoBiondo and his wife Vicky of Harlan, Ky.; aunts, Paula Black Barton and husband David of Big Stone Gap, Va., Paulette Black Phillips and husband Glyn R. (Ron) of Clintwood, Va.; Tina LoBiondo Clem of Harlan, Ky.; cousins, Daniel, John Michael, Tim, Katie, Lindsey, Emily, Stuart, Glyn R., Mary Morgan, John Carter, Phillip and Jonathan; special friend, Toby Wampler; his fellow band members, Aaron Lee, Andi Kilgore, McKenzie Carter, Sam Yates and former band member, Dan Witt.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at the Wise Baptist Church, 211 Spring Ave, Wise, Va. 24293. Memorial services will be conducted at 8 pm at the church with Rev. Mike Winters officiating. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home, 956 Park Ave. NW, Norton, VA 24273 to help the family with funeral expenses.

RICKEY ALLEN MULLIS, SR.

WISE, VA – Ricky Allen Mullis, Sr., died Friday, August 14, 2015 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a long, courageous battle with cancer.  A son of the late Charlie Grant Mullis and Nannie Mossie (Bull) Mullis, he was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters:  Jimmy Ray Mullis, Harold Mullis, Alma Faye Kerns, and Doris McDonald.

He is survived by his wife, Belinda Mullis, three children (and their spouses), Rickey Allen (Jillian) Mullis, Jr., Jonesborough, TN, Brandie (Jamaine) Paddyfoot, Virginia Beach, VA, and Morgan Allen Bentley Mullis and his fiancée Elaina Smith of the home; three grandchildren, Justin & Trey Paddyfoot, and Colton Mullis.  His brothers and sisters include:  A.J. (Sue) Mullis, Mary Cecil, Charles (Judy) Mullis, and Benny Peace.  There are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton.  Funeral services will be at 7 PM in the funeral home with Joseph Burnopp officiating.

PAUL EDWARD MARTIN

NORTON, VA – Paul Edward “Eddie” Martin, Sr., 75, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Norton Community Hospital.  Eddie was born, November 26, 1939 to the late Curtis V. and Gladys (Hensley) Martin.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  Eddie worked and retired from the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company in Norton after 50 years of service.  He served his country with honor in the U.S. Army from 1957 through 1959, stationed in Korea..  His wife of 54 years, Brenda Vay Jessee Martin preceded him in death, as did his parents and his brother, Buford Martin.

Surviving are his daughter, Robin Mae Martin Clifton, Silver Creek MS, a son Paul Edward Martin, Jr., Big Stone Gap, VA, five grandchildren:  Brittani Clifton, Corey Clifton, Audumn Martin, Paul Martin III, and Shawn-Michael M. Nations; his brothers,  Bruce Martin, Palestine, TX and Jerry Martin, Flint MI; a sister, Joyce Martin Mullins, Wise, VA.  The family of Mr. Martin wants to give thanks to his special caregivers:  Ellen Baird, Joy Robinson, and Ellie Castle.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Thursday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton.  Family and friends will gather between 10-10:30 AM Friday at the funeral home, where they will then travel in procession to the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton for 11 AM graveside funeral services with Pastor Ricky D. Mullins officiating.


DELINA WAMPLER

NORTON, VA – Delina Voni Wampler, 96, passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015 at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Big Stone Gap, Va. Born on December 17, 1918 to Frank and Angelica Voni who were from Italy, Delina was a first-generation American and a life-long resident of Norton. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Norton. Delina loved her large, Italian family and liked nothing more than gathering them around a table for a home-cooked meal. She enjoyed talking with friends about the history of Norton and loved reciting poety to visitors up until her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Wampler; a son, Chester Wampler; granddaughter, Crystal Wampler; brothers, Joe, Nick and Chester Voni; and sisters, Mary Chester and Virginia Fields.

She is survived by her son Charles Wampler and his wife Debra; daughter Maria Renfo and husband Bill; grandchildren, Bryan Wampler and wife Glynis, Holly Cockran, Matthew Renfro, Anthony Renfro and wife Emily; great-grandchildren, Hunter Cockran and Jaden Cockran and Nathan Renfro.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Norton. Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted 12:00 pm Wednesday at the church conducted by celebrant Father Timothy Drake. Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery. Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home of Norton is serving the Wampler family.


ALLEN (BO) WILSON

NORTON, VA – Aubrey Allen (Bo) Wilson, 47, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifetime member of the Freedom of Worship Church and operated the sound system. His greatest heroes were Dr. Tom Renfro and Pastor Robert Fultz, Jr. Bo had a loving heart and enjoyed helping others. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle and a great friend.

He is survived by his parents, Aubrey and Joyce Wilson of Norton, Va.; his sister and her husband, Karen and Robbie Williams of Norton, Va.; two special nephews, Colin and Tyler Williams of Norton, Va.; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm Friday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Robert Fultz, Jr. officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday at White Oak Gap Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 am Saturday to travel in procession to the cemetery.


PAULA VANOVER

ST. PAUL, VA – Paula Jean Stacy Vanover, 41, died Monday August 3, 2015 at her home.  She was preceded in death by a son, Brandon Lee Stacy, a daughter, Nicole Elaine Stacy, her father, Paul H. Stacy, Sr., and  grandparents:  Earl Mullins and Wiltz and Willie Stacy.

Paula is survived by her mother, Debra K. Stacy Stallard, her brothers:  Paul H. Stacy, Jr., Michael Morrell Stacy, and Billy Jack Stacy; her sisters:  Charlotte Jo Stacy and Amber Stacy, a grandson: Austin Lee Blake Stacy, a special nephew, Tanner Clay Stacy, her maternal grandparents, Barbara and ”Papaw” Joe Lynn, a sister-in-law, Rene Stacy, a brother-in-law, B.J. Ramey, and her nephews and nieces, Isaiah, Noah, Devin, Rayonna, Abby, and Maddie; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 PM Wednesday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton.  Funeral services will be at 2PM in the funeral home chapel, with the Reverend Danny Mullins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton.


GLADYS LORENE LEE

WISE, VA – Gladys Lorene Lee, 79, died Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Wise.  Lorene was a native of Jonesville, VA, a daughter of the late Gay and Pearl (Hyden) Livesay.  She was a graduate of the former Jonesville High School, and she was of the Baptist faith.  Her husband, Phillip Dewey Lee, Sr., preceded her in death, as did a son, Gregory Dale Lee, and her siblings:  Mary Hobbs, Joyce Hettich, and Dwight Livesay.

She is survived by her children:  Teresa Lee Pearson, Truddy Ann Klupp, Phillip Dewey Lee, Jr., Timothy Jason Lee, and Jeremy Bruce Lee; her grandchildren:  Shane Dylan Pearson and his wife Crissy, Sara Rose Pearson, and Joshua Ray Browning; a great granddaughter, Rosa Lee Espinosa, and special friends:  Brian Crawford and Terrie Lyn Taylor.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton.  Funeral services will be at 10 AM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Larry Owens officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lee Memorial Park in Woodway, VA.

 


JEAN MARIE HARRIS

NORTON, VA – Jean Marie Harris, 85, passed away peacefully Friday, July 31, 2015, at Morningside of Newport News, VA. Mrs. Harris was born October 6, 1929 in Caretta, McDowell County, West Virginia to Billy Herbert Mabe and Bessie Jane (Breeden) Mabe. She was a member of the Norton United Methodist Church and the Berwind Chapter 141 Order of the Eastern Star. Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Grover Winter Harris, her parents and two sisters, Virginia Lee Mabe and Billie June Mabe Horne Woolum.

She is survived by her sister, Margie Ann Mabe Dove, Baltimore, MD, by children, Dr. Bill Harris, Pikeville, KY, Pearle Jane Ellis (Stephen), Winter Springs, FL and Donald Edward Harris (Debbie), Yorktown, VA. She leaves to cherish her memories eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the Morningside Family for the care and affection given to our beloved Mom and Granny.

Graveside services for Mrs. Harris will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015 in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for services. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Norton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 76, Norton, VA 24273, or the Norton Rescue Squad Inc., P.O.
