NORTON, VA – Paul Douglas Forney, 55, died Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Appalachia, VA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Mae McCrary, and his sister, Ophelia Forney.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Kayla Forney, his brothers and sister: Thomas (Edna) Forney, Coeburn, VA, Robert Forney, Monroe, NC, Tim Forney, Norton, VA, and Lena (David) Foster, Coeburn, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11-12 noon Thursday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Services will be held at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Leslie Lee officiating, with music provided by the Evangelistic Choralaires.
PAUL E. KILGORE, SR.
NORTON, VA – Paul E. Kilgore,
Sr., 83, died Friday, June 26, 2015 at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport,
Tn. He was a former employee of Cohen’s Department Store and Sears in Norton.
He was a member and a strong advocate for the Wise County Historical Society.
Paul was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He attended
the First Baptist Church in Norton. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia
Dean Collier Kilgore; a brother, Harold Kilgore; three sisters, Gertrude Dean,
Opal Kilgore and Cuba Kilgore.
He is survived by his son and his
wife, Paul E. Kilgore, Jr. and Diana Tate Kilgore of Norton, Va.; a
granddaughter and her husband, Rachel Elizabeth Rhoten and James Rhoten of Big
Stone Gap, Va.; a grandson, Joshua Nathaniel Kilgore of Big Stone Gap, Va.; a
great granddaughter, Cara Kilgore; three brothers, Lester Kilgore
and his companion Lavada Clasby, Leon Kilgore and Glenn Kilgore all of Norton, Va.; a sister, Berthel Barnette of Norton, Va.;
several nieces and nephews.
Military graveside services will
be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens conducted
by local veterans groups and the U.S. Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team.
Committal services will follow conducted by Rev. Jim Collie. Family and friends
will meet at the cemetery for services. Memorial contributions may be made to
the Wise County Animal Shelter.

WISE, VA – Rushie Osborne Tackett,
100, died Friday, June 26, 2015 at her residence. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Victor Earl Tackett; three children, Eddy Carl Tackett, Patricia
Foster and Gary Neil Tackett.
She is survived by her children,
Jean and Bill Buchanan of Oxford, Ga., Ruth and James Chance of Clarkston, Ga.,
Mary Lou and Carroll Isom of Monticello, Ind., Sandra and Jack Starnes of Wise,
Va., Randy and Theresa Tackett of Wise, Va., Janice Ewing of Winder, Ga. And
Pamela Feldt of Monticello, Ind.; several grandchildren, great grandchildren
and great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted 3:00 PM Monday at the Tackett
Family Cemetery in Virgie, Ky. with Doug Tackett officiating. Family and

SHELBY JEAN AMBURGEY
NORTON, VA – Shelby Jean Amburgey, 77, died Friday, June 19, 2015 at Norton Community Hospital. Lovingly called “Big Sissy” by her family, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Amburgey and Catherine (Butner) Amburgey Stidham Mullis. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Amburgey and a nephew Joshua Stough.
Surviving are a sister, Mollie Trent, a step-sister, Teresa Stough, her nieces and nephews: Fred Isom, Don Trent, Mercedes Hammonds, Velvet Carty, Bridget Phillips, Roberta Baker, and Jonah Stough; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather between 10:00 and 10:30 AM Monday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton, where they will then travel in procession to the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens for graveside funeral services and burial with Pastor Robbie Fultz officiating. Friends may call at other times at the home of Mollie Trent, 4811 Thacker’s Branch Road, Norton.
LEE ROY WORKMAN
NORTON, VA – Lee Roy Workman, 87,
died Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. He was a
retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was a US Army Veteran having
served during WWII. He was an avid outdoorsman and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, Frank and Mary Workman; three brothers, James Workman, Jr., Joe Eddy
Workman and Charles Workman; two sisters, Lucille Pettrey and Agnes Workman; a daughter, Deborah
Bolling; and a grandson, Blake Young.
He is survived by his wife,
Virginia Phipps Workman of Norton, Va.; a son, Michael (Kimberly) Workman of
Big Stone Gap, Va.; a daughter, Lisa Young of Kingsport, Tn.; four
grandchildren, Thomas Bolling, Todd Bolling, Derek Fisher and Evan Perry; two
great grandchildren, Alexia Vincer and Annabelle Smith; two brothers, Gary
(Mary) Workman of Roanoke, Va. and Carmel (Billie) Workman of Norton, Va.; two
sisters, Janet Trinkle of Norton, Va. and Carolyn Bowman of Wise, Va.; several
nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside funeral services will
be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Bolling Family Cemetery in Norton with
Rev. Gary Hill officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by local veterans groups and Virginia National Guard Funeral Honors Team. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by
1:30 p.m. Sunday to travel in procession to the cemetery. Hagy & Fawbush

ELBERT GERALD OWENS
BRISTOL, VA – Elbert Gerald Owens, 80, died Sunday, June 7, 2015 at his residence with his family at his side. He was a former employee with AT&T and later Bristol Compressors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Bess Owens; a son, Greg Owens; his siblings, Delphine Owens, Eutaw Owens, Mazie Anne Owens, Dixie Gilbert and Clifford Owens.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Owens; a daughter, Reta Hill and her husband Robert; a granddaughter, Christina Poslusny and her husband Mike; a grandson, Thomas Hill; two great grandchildren, Emma Kate Poslusny and Joshua Poslusny; two brothers, Bernard Owens and Garmin Owens; two sisters, Ruby Colley and Elsie Flint.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Appalachia First Baptist Church, 401 Kilbourne Ave, Appalachia, Va. with Dr. Nick Brewer officiating.
BENNY BLOOMER
DUFFIELD/BIG STONE GAP, VA –
Benny Allen Bloomer, 72, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 surrounded by his
family. Benny was a Master Craftsman. He worked with wood and stone and created
beautiful wooden baskets, benches and was featured in the Kingsport Times News
and on WCYB Television. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and
Clayburn Bloomer, Jr.
He is survived by his sons,
Matthew (Cindy) Bloomer and Timothy (Mandy) Bloomer all of Big Stone Gap, Va.; good
friend and mother of his sons, Diana Bloomer of Big Stone Gap, Va.; two
granddaughters, Sarah E. Bloomer and Bethany N. Bloomer, a special
step-granddaughter, Camie Robinette; his sister, Sara B. Neely of Big Stone
Gap, Va.; his brothers, Harold (Brenda) Bloomer and Buren (Carolyn) Bloomer all
of Big Stone Gap, Va.; special friends, George Key and Jerry Church; several
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends
from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Graveside
funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Powell Valley Memorial
Gardens with Rev. Grayson Cothron officiating. Family and friends will meet at
the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to travel in procession to the
cemetery.

Ward, 79 went to be with her Lord, Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the home of her
son in Bristol, VA. She was one of
fourteen children born to Daniel and Bessie (Crider) Brickey.

MELISSA GAYE LINTZ
NORTON, VA – Melissa Gaye “Missy”
Lintz, 47, died Monday, June 1, 2015 at her residence. She was a graduate of
J.I. Burton High School and was a former office manager for Cumberland
Associates in Norton, Va. As a grandmother, she enjoyed being referred to as
“Mimi”. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Andy Morgan and
father-in-law, Ray Absher.
She is survived by her husband,
Michael T. Lintz of Norton, Va.; a son, Brandon Lintz and his wife Courtney of
Norton, Va.; a granddaughter, Carly Lintz of Norton, Va.; her parents, Bob and
Sandra Plaster of Norton, Va.; grandmothers, Ellen Morgan of Norton, Va. and
Mary Plaster of Coeburn, Va.; two sisters, Leslie Blevins and her husband Bobby
of Bristol, Va., Melinda Brickey and her husband Jimmy of Norton, Va.; several
nieces and nephews including Melanie Couch, Bailey Couch, Kira Patrick, Robert
Baker and Bo Brickey.

BOBBY RAY BLOOMER
NORTON, VA – Bobby Ray Bloomer,
48, died Monday, June 1, 2015 at his residence. Bobby enjoyed coaching Norton
Little League Girls Softball and later Varsity Girls Softball at Central High
School. He was a member of the Dunbar Community Church. Bobby was a loving
husband, father and grandfather, a generous and thoughtful man and enjoyed
life. He was preceded in death by his father, Broudis Bloomer; his brother,
James (Joey) Bloomer: and a sister, Patsy Mefford.
He is survived by his wife of 28
years, Samantha Stidham Bloomer of Norton, Va.; a daughter, Bria Bloomer of
Norton, Va.; a grandson, Rylan Hubbard of Norton, Va.; his mother, Ruby Bloomer
Trinkle of Dunbar, Va.; four brothers, Tommy Bloomer of Dunbar, Va., Richard
Bloomer and Kenneth Bloomer both of Norton, Va. and Mark Bloomer of Big Stone
Gap, Va.; three sisters, Judy Bloomer Collins of Norton, Va., Elizabeth Jesse
of Ohio and Dinah Bates and her husband David of Norton, Va.; several nieces
and nephews.

from 6-8 pm Wednesday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral
services will be conducted at 8 pm Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with
Pastor Tony Nunley officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted

SADIE HALL MASON
NORTON, VA - Sadie Hall Mason,
formerly of Norton passed away May 30th in Jacksonville, Florida after a long
illness. She was a graduate of Norton High School and attended Clinch Valley
College. She worked for 32 years for Chesapeake Potomac and BellSouth telephone
companies. She was predeceased by her parents Mr. & Mrs. L. H. Hall, her
sisters Ruth Garland and Katherine Tommerdahl. Her family will miss her
generosity and loving spirit as they say goodbye and Paradise welcomes a new
angel.
She is survived by her husband
John Mason, sister HelenStallard, nieces Nancy Carpenter, Lauren McHose, nephew
Eric Tommerdahl, three great-nieces and one great-great niece.
