NORTON, VA – Jacqueline Marie “Jacki” David, 68, died Friday, May 24, 2019 at her home in the Josephine community of Norton, VA. Jacki was the daughter of the late Kenneth “Bull” Lawson and Buna Roberts Lawson, and was the widow of William “Bill” David. She was a retired LPN and attended Grace Point Fellowship Church in Kingsport, TN.
Surviving her are her daughters, Becky Meade, Gate City, VA, and Monica Toohey and her husband, Michael, Big Stone Gap, VA; her sister, Audra Faye Moore, Kingsport, TN; her grandchildren: Trevor, Lauren, and Emily Meade, Brylee Richardson, and soon to be born, Liam Toohey; and several other close family members..
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Monday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Her funeral service will be at 7 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel, with Pastors Paul Warrick, Phil Hoskins, and the Reverend Lars Dorton officiating. Family and friends will gather by 10:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home, where they will then depart in procession to the Laurel Grove Cemetery for graveside ceremonies and burial. PEARLY McARTHUR
NORTON, VA – Pearly McArthur, 75, died Monday, May 20, 2019, at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Norton. She was preceded in death by her father, William Glen Hammonds and her husband, Tommy Eugene McArthur. She was a lifelong resident of Wise County.
She is survived by her mother, Maggie Hammonds of Norton, Va.; her brother, Larry Hammonds and his wife Phyllis of Norton, Va.; her sister, Janis H. Hubbard and her husband Roy of Jonesboro, TN; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Friday, May 24, 2019, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 1 pm Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 12:30 pm Saturday to travel in procession to the cemetery.
MILDRED COLLINS
NORTON, VA – Mildred Collins, 95, died Friday, May 17, 2019, in Inwood, W.Va. She was born in Stonega, Va. to the late Willie Pennington and Nettie Shepherd Pennington. She had lived in Virginia, Florida, South Carolina before settling in Inwood, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred Frank Niederhelman and a daughter, Mary Ann Bryant.
She is survived by her husband, Orbin Collins, Jr.; her sons, Frank Alfred Niederhelman, Jack C. Niederhelman, Thomas E Niederhelman and Robert D. Niederhelman; two daughters, Linda Kaye Kuczynski and Betty Jo Wilkerson.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 am Friday, May 24, 2019, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Friday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery.
ADDISON STALLARD
POWELL VALLEY, VA - Addison Stallard, age 99, died Friday, May 17, 2019. A nearly-lifelong resident of Powell Valley, he was employed at Greever Motor Sales in Norton prior to ownership of the Nationwide Insurance Agency in Norton. Following retirement in 1982 he enjoyed crafting furniture and hundreds of other pieces in his woodworking shop, and playing guitar and singing with his wife Elizabeth. He and his wife enjoyed natural history pursuits and simple drives in the countryside.
He is survived by Elizabeth, his wife of 78 years; daughters Sharon Daniels, Powell Valley, and Kay Johnson, Wytheville; son Jim Stallard and wife Patty, Wytheville; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brother Victor, Scott Depot, West Virginia; sister Jean Lively, Johnson City, Tennessee; brothers-in-law Jim Hall, Kingsport, Tennessee, and Harold Witt, Wise. A neighbor, John Gilly, was his treasured friend for many years who assisted Addison in countless ways.
He was predeceased by parents Garland Stallard and Verna King; brother Sanford Stallard; sister Sibyl Byrge; daughter Patricia Grant; granddaughters Thomasa Clifton and Tanya Adams; and grandson Johnathan Parker.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton, Va. Funeral services will be at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 am Monday, May 20, 2019, at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 am to travel in procession to the cemetery.

NORTON, VA – Lou Jourdan America, 39, died Friday, May 10, 2019, at his residence in Norton. He was a 1999 Graduate of J.I. Burton High School where he was a member of the Raider football team. Lou was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Vicky America of the home; a son, Angelo America of the home; his parents, Armie and Lucy America of the home; two brothers, Jean Paul America and his wife Michele of Jonesborough, TN and their children, Jean Andrea America and Jaycob America; his aunts and uncles, Pablo and Amy Barongan, Rudy and Arsenia Ruzol; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted 10:00 am Monday, May 13, 2019, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Norton with Timothy Drake presiding. Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery.
