WALTER LANEY
NORTON, VA – Walter Ray “Tonk”
Laney, 35, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport,
TN. He was a graduate of John I. Burton High School.
He is survived by two daughters,
Kaitlyn Laney and Madison Laney of Norton, VA; his parents, Larry and Deborah
K. Laney of Norton, VA; a brother, Larry Laney, Jr. of Norton, VA; a sister,
Rebecca Laney of Norton, VA; a special brother and sister, Scott Spriggs and
Missy Helbert.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 PM Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. A memorial service will be
conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday in the funeral fome chapel with Deacon Ronnie Kiser and Pastor Jim Smith officiating.
LEON HENSLEY
NORTON, VA – Leon Hensley, 75,
departed this life Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 at Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport,
TN after an extended illness. Leon was born April 24, 1939 in the Hoot Owl
Hollow section of Norton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac S.
Hensley and Bertha Lawson Hensley. He was also preceded in death by his
youngest son, Richard “Ricky” Hensley; brothers Fred, Frank, Ralph, Jessie,
Robert and David; sisters, Betty, Wilma and Margaret.
Leon is survived by his wife, Sandra
Hensley of Norton, VA; his sons, Douglas (Glenda) Hensley, Roger (Linda)
Hensley and their mother Janna Collier of Morristown, TN; his sister, Pauline
Hamilton; his brother, Paul Hensley; stepchildren, Andrietta Marcum, Joseph
(Kathy who is his very special and dedicated care-giver) and Kevin Wireman;
grandchildren, Amanada Hensley, and Chad Hensley; great-granddaughter, Ava of
Morristown, TN; step grandchildren, Cassandra Wireman, Shauna Wireman, Lindsey
Wireman, Dustin Wireman, and James Wireman with great grandchildren Carter and
Jacob Jessee of Norton; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends
from 5-7:00 PM Thursday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral
services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with
Rev. Ralph McFarland and Rev. Robert Dingus officiating. Graveside committal
services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday at Laurel Grove Cemetery. Family
and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Friday to travel in
procession to the cemetery.
LUCY M. ORENDER
POUND, VA – Lucy M. Orender, 84,
died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Wise, VA. She was
preceded in death by her husband William Orender, Sr. and her sons, Randy
Orender, Monty Orender and David Orender.
She is survived by her son,
William Orender, Jr. of Norton, VA; two daughters, Nancy Strickland of Greenville,
SC and Brenda Hurd of McLeansville, NC; six grandchildren; nine great
grandchildren; a brother, Edward Teasley of Big Stone Gap, VA; and special
friends, Mr. & Mrs. G.F. Austin, Earl Stanley and Genia Bateman.
The family will receive friends
from 5-7:00 PM Thursday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral
services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel with
Rev. Freddie Powers officiating. Burial will follow in the Dewey Cemetery of the South Fork community of Pound, VA.
DORIS M. KINSER
NORTON, VA - Doris M. Kinser, 85,
of Cumming, GA, formerly of Hampton, VA, passed away peacefully Sunday,
November 9, 2014, at Northside Hospital in Cumming after a brief illness.
Born in Blountville, TN, to
Emmanuel (Doc) and Mamie Allison Lunsford, she grew up mostly in Southwest
Virginia. On August 19, 1946, she
married Clarence L. Kinser of Norton, VA, who had just returned from WWII. He
was a survivor of the Bataan Death March and a former POW of the Japanese. They spent the next 23 years traveling to
various military bases until his retirement in Hampton, VA, in 1969. Mrs. Kinser was predeceased by her husband,
Senior Master Sargent Clarence L. Kinser, in 2002 after 56 years of marriage. She subsequently moved to Cumming, GA to be
closer to family.
She is survived by 4 children,
Patricia Kinser of Hampton, VA; William
(Linda) Kinser of Gainesville, GA;
Michael Kinser of Cumming, GA; and
Amy (Jason) Littleton of Greenville, SC;
9 Grandchildren; 12 Great
Grandchildren; and 1 Great Great
Grandchild. Additionally, she is
survived by 2 brothers, M.A. Lunsford of Weber City, VA and Carl Lunsford of
Abingdon, VA and 3 sisters, Ruby Partin of Madison Heights, MI; Norma Wright of
Kingsport, TN; and Charlotte Faris of
Aurora, CO; numerous nieces and
nephews, and many people who loved her.
She loved her family, pretty
things, dolls and had a particular fondness for butterflies. She was a gentle
and wise soul who always tried to find the good in everybody and
everything.
Calling hours will be held from
5PM -7PM on Sunday, November 16, 2014, at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home,
956 Park Ave. N.W. Norton, VA. Funeral
services will be conducted at 11 AM on Monday, November 17th at Hagy and Fawbush
Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at the Highland Cemetery in
Norton.

choice.
GAIL WILLIAMS
NORTON, VA - Gail Williams, 72,
died Tues, November 4, 2014. She was the
daughter of the late Ottis Collins, her mother, Mattie Provence Reed, and her
stepfather, Meredith “Mack” Reed. Gail
was a member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church and Women on a Mission. She also devoted her time as a member of the
Mountain View Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of
52 years, Gary J. Williams, her children and their spouses: Gary C.
and Lisa Williams, Norton, VA, Robert Jeffery and Daphane Williams,
Bristol, VA, Leslie Mullins and Jeff Perry, Wise, VA, Angela and John Wright
Cumberland, VA, Kathy and Randy Mitchell, Cumberland, VA and Michelle and Allen
Brooksher, Nashville, TN, her 18 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends
from 5-7 PM Thursday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services celebrating Gail’s life will
be at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with the Reverend Lee Kidd
officiating. Family and friends will
gather at the funeral home Friday afternoon by 2:30 PM, where they will then
travel in procession to the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens for burial.
CHARLES RAY HERRON
NORTON, VA – Charles Ray Herron,
78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014 peacefully at
his home with his loving family by his side after an extended illness. He was a
retired coal miner and a former employee of Daniels Plumbing and Heating. He
loved fishing and hunting. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He was born May 25,
1936 and was a lifelong resident of Wise County. He was the son of the late
James Herron and Bessie Laney Herron. In addition to his parents he is also
preceded in death by his loving wife, Kay Rene Perry Herron; one brother,
Hershel Herron; and one sister, Charlotte Herron Rutherford.
He is survived by his loving
children, three daughters, Vonda Herron Powers and her husband Wayne of Norton,
VA, Tammy Herron of Norton, VA, Kimberly Herron of Ohio; a son, Nathaniel
Herron of Norton, VA; grandson, Ryan Damen of Norton, VA; and his loving
companion “Pepper”; several nieces and nephews.
At Charles request services will
be private.
THOMAS SIDNEY HALL, III
NORTON, VA – Thomas Sidney (Skip)
Hall, III, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 at his residence. He was preceded in
death by his father, Thomas Sidney Hall, Jr; his stepmother, Jo Ella Hall and a
son, Joshua Frazier.
He is survived by his wife,
Rebecca Hall of Norton, VA; two sons, Charles Hall and Kevin Hall, both of
Norton, VA; a daughter, Allison Hall of Norton, VA; his mother, Dorothy Hall
Mullins and his stepfather, Carl Wayne Mullins of Wise, VA; a brother, Shane
Hall of Alexandria, VA; two sisters, Amy Hall of Norton, VA, Shea Culbertson
and her husband Bradley of Wise, VA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and
cousins.
The family will receive friends
from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. A memorial
service will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with
Rev. Larry Hammonds officiating.
Memorial contributions may be
