ROY STALLARD

POUND, VA – Roy Stallard, 76, died Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. He was a life member of the Pound Rescue Squad and loved his cattle and farmland. He was a son of the late Woodrow and Lena Powers Stallard. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Stallard and Wesley Short.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Stallard of Pound, Va.; three sons, James Stallard, Jr. and his wife Delois of Pound, Va, Woody Stallard and his wife Serena of Pound, Va., Reese Stallard and his wife Yin of Thailand; three daughters, Jolinda (Jo) Church and her husband Larry of Pound, Va., Daphney Williams and her husband Jeff of Bristol, Va., Jacinda (Jay) Moore and her husband Neil of Pound, Va.; eighteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a host of step grand and step great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Mullins of Pound, Va.; an adopted sister, Barbara Church of Appalachia, Va.; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at the James A. Powers Cemetery in Pound, Va. with Glenn Young officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for services.


MARY LOUISE HOWARD

NORTON, VA – Mary Louise Howard, 96, died Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the home of her nephew and niece, Bill and Margaret Absher, in Bristol, TN. She was a member of the Ramsey Freewill Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Douglas and Ida Lee Hamilton Osborne. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hiram J. Howard; a brother, Herbert Osborne and two sisters, Margaret Osborne and Hazel Absher.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the Ramsey Freewill Baptist Church in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday at the church with Rev. Lyons Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery.


BILLY SLAUGHTER, SR.

NORTON, VA – Billy Lewis Slaughter, Sr., 84, died Sunday, April 16, 2017, at his home in Church Hill, TN. The son of the late Tony and Ruth Slaughter, Billy pastored several churches and evangelized for 40 years. He retired from the railroad and later owned a trucking company. He was also preceded in death by his grandchildren, Christy and Kyndal.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Alice Slaughter; sons and daughters; Billy Slaughter, Jr and his wife Franeé, and their daughter, Misty; Martha Humphrey and her husband James and their children Jerry, Tabitha, Jimmy, Adam; Bobby Slaughter and his wife Susie and their children, Brian, Brandon, Kami, Keyna and Melanie; Vicki Essary and her husband Danny and their children, Justin, Brandon and Ryan; Jeff Slaughter and his wife Dollie and their children, Christie, Marta Christy and Nathan; Patti Malmevik and her husband Tom; Randy Slaughter and his wife Maggie and their children Charles Randall, Jeanette and Tabitha; Kim Anderson and her husband Rick and their children, David and Lori; several great and great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Jerry Cornelison and Ernest Duncan officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 am Friday, April 21, 2017, at Laurel Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 am to travel in procession to the cemetery.


LINDA LOU McCOY

WISE, VA - Linda Lou McCoy, 67, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Russell County Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Kathleen Williams; infant son, James William Dearry; three brothers, David Williams, Jerry Williams and Robert Williams.

She is survived by three sons, Danny and Sarah Dearry of Coeburn VA, James Dearry of Oklahoma and Matthew McCoy of St. Paul VA; one daughter, Debby Dearry of Castlewood VA; two sisters, Glenda Sturgill of Wise VA and Sarah Williams of Wise VA; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton VA.

The funeral service will be conducted 11 AM Thursday, April 13, 2017, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery.
