ROSE ANN KENNEDY

NORTON, VA – Rose Ann Wood Kennedy, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport, TN. She was a member of the Norton Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Holland Kennedy.

She is survived by her son, Mark Kennedy of Norton, VA; a granddaughter, Tori Kennedy of Norton, VA; three brothers, Fred Wood and his wife Kim, Winfield Wood and his wife Joyce all of Norton, VA, Jay Wood and his wife Nan of Duffield, VA; two sisters, Brenda Wood Ramirez of Petersburg, VA and Caffie Wood Bass of Franklin, TN; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Benny Boles officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, VA. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10 am Tuesday to travel in procession to the cemetery.


BESSIE THOMPSON

NORTON, VA – Bessie Jane Bolling Thompson, 78, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Norton, VA. She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Creed Bolling and Goldie Cox Bolling; her husband, Billy Ray Thompson; a granddaughter, Deidra Nicole Hutson; and three sisters, Shirley Thompson, Florence Gibson and Cora “Tootie” Minor.

She is survived by three daughters, Teena Gail Coffey and her husband Eddie, Billie Jane Thompson, Cheryl Denise Thompson Hutson and her husband Bobby all of Norton, VA; a son, Adam Thompson and his Carla of Norton, VA; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; two brothers, Emory Bolling and his wife Betty of Canton, OH, Jimmy Bolling and his wife Sharon of Winter Haven, FL; two sisters, Charlotte Adams of Lexington, NC and Teresa Jean Bolling of Norton, VA; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Darrell Bolling officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery.


GARY SMITH

NORTON, VA – Gary Allen Smith, 61, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Gary was as Evangelistic Minister and his ministry, faith and family were very important to him. At Gary’s age of two he was preceded in death by his biological father, Allen Smith and later his father that raised him, Bob Mullins.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Smith, of Norton, VA; his mother, Nina Mullins of Norton, VA; his children, Stephanie, Tiffany and Bobby; his step children, Dwayne Smith of Norton, VA, Darren Smith and his wife Mia of Norton, VA and Teresa Camper and her husband Jerry of Johnson City, TN; grandchildren, Katelyn Isentol, Priscilla Funk, Heather Whitaker and Makayla Camper; his brothers, Larry Smith and his wife Shirley of Kingsport, TN, Robert Mullins and his wife Melinda of Wise, VA, his sister, Teresa Hamilton and her husband Johney of Norton, VA; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and his loving church family.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 am Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 am Monday to travel in procession to the cemetery.


IRENE BLACK

WISE, VA – Irene Wiletta Black, 92, died Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Mountain View Hospital. She was born in Lee County, VA to the late Mary and Harrison Carroll.  Irene had a career alongside her late husband Lawrence in the retail business at Geller’s Department Store and Black’s Men’s Store in Norton and later retired from Rose’s Department Store.  Irene was a Sunday School Teacher and Choir member at the First Baptist Church in Norton and later a member of Wise Baptist Church. “Granny” Black was an excellent cook, gardener, and seamstress. Most of all “Granny” Black was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Mark Black, daughter, Linda Black Marrs, and grandson, Anthony LoBiondo.

Those left to cherish her memory; daughters and sons-in-laws, Paulette and Ron Phillips of Clintwood, VA, Paula and David Barton of Big Stone Gap, VA; son and daughter-in-law, James and Shawn Black of Louisville, KY; son-in-law, John Marrs of Madison VA; grandchildren, David and Tracy LoBiondo, James Daniel Black, John Michael and Mary Black, Timothy Black, Emily Adams, Glyn Phillips, Mary Morgan Phillips, Stuart Barton, Lindsey Horn and Chris Lawson, Katie and Jeff Gray; ten great grandchildren and one due in August.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful people who took such excellent care of “Granny” in her home and at the hospital. A special thanks to Dr. Allen Mullins for the care he gave “Granny” for many years.

The family will be receiving friends from 4-6 PM Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at Wise Baptist Church and the funeral services to follow with the Reverend Mike Winters officiating.  Burial will be 11 am Thursday, Feb 16, 2017, at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens with Jim Collie officiating. Family and friends are requested to be at Wise Baptist Church by 10:15 AM Thursday to travel in procession to the cemetery. Grandsons and loved ones will serve as Pallbearers.


WILMA TEASLEY

POUND, VA - Wilma Lee Teasley, died Saturday, February 11, 2017 at her residence in Pound, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Darrell Teasley Sr; father Robert Lee Bentley; mother Stella Ann Bentley; five brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Ronnie and Natasha Teasley of Coeburn, VA; Tyler and Madison Teasley from Clintwood, VA; four daughters, Diana and Dale Cantrell from Pound, VA; Stella Teasley and Roger Perry from Wise, VA; Martha and James Mills from Kingsport, TN; Rolanda Stapleton from Kingsport, TN; one brother Paul Bentley from Coeburn, VA; one Sister Fayetta Johnson from Norton, VA; Nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren; Special care givers, Rodesa, Nikki and McKenzie

The family will receive friends 10-12 pm Tuesday February 14, 2017 at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 pm in the funeral home chapel with Darrell Bolling officiating. Burial will follow at White Oak Gap Cemetery in Norton, VA.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of MSA Hospice Healthcare of Clintwood, VA for their kind attention and care given.
