MARGARET MULLINS

NORTON, VA - Margaret Louise Mullins, 76, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Johnson City Medical Center.  She was a daughter of the late Isaac and Bertha (Lawson) Hensley, and was a lifelong resident of the Norton area.  She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. 

Surviving are her children and their spouses: Lisha and Jeff Yeary, Atlanta, GA, Scott and Chasity Mullins, Wise, VA, Rebecca and Earl Deal, Dryden, VA, and Ashley and Travis Willis, Dryden, VA; seven grandchildren, and her brothers and sister, Leon Hensley, Paul Hensley, Earl Hamilton, and Pauline Hamilton.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Saturday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be at 7 PM in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Roger Roberts officiating.  Family and friends will gather Sunday by 9:30 AM at the funeral home, where they then will depart in procession to the Laurel Grove Cemetery for burial.


RANDY CASTLE

BIG STONE GAP, VA – Randy Lee “Doc” Castle, 73, died Sunday, July 14, 2013 at his home. He was the son of the late Conley and Evelyn Castle. He was a graduate of ETSU and was a veteran of the United State Marine Corps. He taught and was assistant principal and a coach at John I. Burton High School. He formerly served as Division Chairman of Mining and Technology at Mountain Empire Community College. Randy was a Shriner and a member of Kazim Temple. He was a partner of Norton Track and Roller Company in Norton. Randy served as Chair of the Highway Safety Commission for the City of Norton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Clark Castle and a brother, Terry Castle.

He is survived by his wife, Ella Valera Castle of Big Stone Gap, VA; his daughter and her husband, Dawn and Jody Robinson of Meadowview, VA; granddaughters, Cara and Lacy Robinson of Meadowview, VA; a sister, Rita Roberts of Norton, VA; six brothers, Ollan Cassell and his wife Kathy, Bob Cassell and his wife Mary Ann, Billy Cassell and Linda Rogers, Verl Cassell and his wife Alec, Jerl Cassell and his wife Glenda, Danny Castle and his wife Linda, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Graveside Military Services will be conducted by local veterans groups at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 AM Thursday at the funeral home to travel in procession to the cemetery.


JOAN GENELLE HAMILTON

NORTON, VA - Joan Genelle Hamilton, 82, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Rose Hill Nursing Home in Berryville, Virginia.  Joan was formerly a resident of Norton, before moving to Northern Virginia to be close to family.  She was the widow of the late Willard D. Hamilton, and was a daughter of the late Arlie H. and Elsie Jane (McGlothlin) Bates.  She attended the Norton Church of God in the Ramsey community.  She was preceded in death by three sons:  Roger Neil Hamilton, Steven Kyle Hamilton, and Michael Dwayne Hamilton; a granddaughter Lehia Hamilton, and her brothers, Freddie and Jerry Bates.

Surviving are her daughter and her husband Patricia Ann and James David Anderson, Leesburg, VA, her brothers:  Arlie H. Bates, Donald Glenn Bates, William Bates, and Jimmy Darrell Bates; her sisters:  Freda McAmis, Shirley Cleary, and Janice Mullins, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Saturday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton.  Funeral services will be at 7 PM in the funeral home chapel, with the Reverend Cliff Bowman officiating.  Family and friends will gather by 12:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home, where they then will travel in procession to Powell Valley Memorial Gardens for burial.
