NORTON, VA – Betty Lou Sturgill,
73, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 in Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN. She
was the daughter of the late Pearl Henry Bates and Nettie Osborne Bates. In
addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Eugene
Sturgill.
Surviving are her daughter, Gayla Sturgill of Norton, VA; two sons, Rick Sturgill and his wife Pam of Coeburn, VA,
Danny Sturgill and his wife Melanie of Norton, VA; three grandchildren,
Stephanie Bryant, Amanda Cooper, Stephen Cooper, Jr.; two great grandchildren,
Camren Cooper and Morgan Cooper; two sisters, Shelby Reed of Coeburn, VA, Lois
Carico of Duffield, VA; two brothers, Frank Bates of Texas, Fred Bates of
Tacoma, VA and a special nephew and caregiver, Kim Reed.
The family will receive friends
from 5-7:00 PM Thursday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services
will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joe
Dearry officiating. Private interment will be at a later date.
REGINA FAYE ADAMS
NORTON, VA – Regina Faye Brooks
Adams, 61, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport,
TN. She was the wife of Jim Adams for over 30 years.

from 10:00-11:00 AM Thursday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services
will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
Johnny Flanary officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery.
STELLA JEAN COLLINS
WISE, VA - Stella Jean Collins,
62, died Friday, September 20, 2013 at Johnson City Medical Center. Stella was formerly of the Guest River
community, and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Ernestine (Stipes)
Collins.
Of a family of 14 children, only
one sister, Joann Handlir of Abingdon, Maryland survives. Stella leaves several nieces, nephews,
cousins, and a host of friends.

from 5-7 PM Monday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at7 PM Monday in the
funeral home chapel. Burial will be at 11 AM Tuesday at the Powell
Valley Memorial Gardens.
MARY RUTH KING
NORTON, VA - Mary Ruth Day King,
87, died Monday, September 9, 2013 at Norton Community Hospital. She was a resident of the Norton Green
Apartments, was the widow of John King, and a daughter of the William and Amanda
Pierson Day. Mrs. King was a member of
the Dunbar United Methodist Church. She
was preceded in death by her brothers and sister: Claude Day, Clifford Day, William Clyde Day,
James Ralph Day, Fred Carlton Day, and Genevieve Evelyn Presley.
Surviving are her sisters and
brothers: Novella Day Stiltner of Shepherdstown, WV, and Mabel Gaynell Losh,
Norton, VA; her brothers: Paul Monroe Day, Dunbar, VA, Kermit Gale Day, Big
Stone Gap, VA and Charles Wayne Day, Norton.
She also leaves her friends and neighbors at Norton Green.
The family will receive friends
from 6-7 PM Wednesday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be at 7 PM Wednesday in
the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Tony Nunley officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:30 AM
Thursday at the funeral home, where they then will travel in procession to
Powell Valley Memorial Gardens for interment.
TEXA ANNA BROYLES
NORTON, VA - Texa Anna Broyles,
age 64, of Eaton, OH and formerly of Wise County, VA, passed away Friday,
September 6, 2013 at Reid Hospital, Richmond, IN after a courageous battle with
Parkinson’s Disease. She was born
December 16, 1948 in Wise County, VA to the late James Walter and Rebecca Jane
(Wireman) Sparks. In addition to her
parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters Sarah, Loretta, Beulah,
Alice, Ada and Mary Ellen; and brother Robert.
She is survived by her sons Doug
Broyles of Pearisburg, VA and Anthony Broyles of Eaton, OH; grandson Preston
Broyles; granddaughters Rae and Ryane Broyles; brother Glenn Sparks of Pennsylvania;
sister Helen Boris of Tennessee; and former husband Thomas G. Broyles.
The family will receive friends on
Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Hagy & Fawbush
Funeral Home. Funeral services will be
conducted on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Collie officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Norton,
VA.
