REVONA KAY BOLLING

NORTON, VA – Revona Kay Bolling, 62, went to be with her LORD, Friday, February 23, 2018 at Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport, TN.  She was a daughter of John and Clara Bell Jackson Hamilton and was a devoted member of the Stevens Church of God in Wise. 

Revona is survived by her husband, Thomas Bolling, her children: Sherry Newman and her husband, James, Bedford, VA, and her son Patrick Bolling of Norton; her grandson, Tyler Newman, her brothers and sisters (and their spouses):  Brenda (Ira) Turner, Larry (Nila) Hamilton, Johnny (Teresa) Hamilton, Darrell (Sherry) Hamilton, and Donna (Lonnie) Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Monday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton.  The funeral service will at 7 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Cliff Bowman officiating.  Family and friends will gather between 10 and 10:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home, from where they will then travel in procession to the Laurel Grove Cemetery for burial.


LINDA ANNE STATZER

NORTON, VA – Linda Anne Statzer, 80, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, VA.  She enjoyed the outdoors, including camping with her family, kayaking, reading, and, later in life, growing roses and other flowers.  Linda was born to the late Robert Samuel Gwyn and Celyna Ann Nowlin Gwyn, and was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ronald David Green, Jr. and her sister, Martha Bourdess.

Her husband, George L. Statzer survives her, as well as her children:  Steve Statzer and his wife, Corinne, Bristol, VA, Russell “Rusty” Statzer, Bristol, TN, George P. “G.P” Statzer, Bristol, VA, and Sherri Statzer, Norton, VA.  Her grandchildren are:  Jeremy, Jason, and Heather Rouse; Calvin and Dusty Statzer; Zachary and Shalyn Statzer, Joshua, Christopher and Samuel Green; and 5 great grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Friday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. The funeral service will be at 7 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bill Hughes officiating.  Family and friends will gather at the funeral home between 10 and 10:30 AM Saturday to then travel in procession to the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens for a burial service.


JOHNNY RAY PETERS

NORTON, VA - Johnny Ray Peters, 59, of Norton, VA, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Wise, VA.

Johnny was born in Norton, VA to Paul “Ray” and Peggy Peters on March 30, 1958. He went to school at J.I Burton High School. Johnny enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, hanging out with friends and family, and fishing.  Johnny was saved and baptized in the Christian faith.

Johnny is preceded in death by his father Paul Ray Peters, a sister Ann Christina McErlean, and a nephew Hunter Ray Lassiter. 

He is survived by a daughter Casey Peters Dotson, son Adam Mayberry, brother Tommy Peters, sister Judy Powers and her husband Johnny Powers. Johnny had many nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends who were dear to his heart as well.

Per Johnny’s request he will be cremated, and no funeral services will be held.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the friends, family, doctors, nurses, pastors and caregivers who have assisted in Johnny’s care.


HUBERT ANDREW STIDHAM

NORTON, VA – Hubert Andrew “Moe” Stidham, 88, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at Mountain View Regional Medical center. Hubert was a lifelong resident of Norton and had worked for Daniels Plumbing and Heating for 55 years before his retirement. He was a former member of Davis Chapel Church and also a member of the Star-Light Quartet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Jane Stidham; two brothers and three sisters; and his wife of 62 years, Mary June Stidham.

He is survived by four sons, Marty Stidham, Michael Stidham, Mark Stidham and Bryan Stidham; two daughters, Mary Morgan and Samantha Bloomer; three grandchildren, Erica Freeman, Taylor Freeman and Bria Bloomer; three great grandchildren, Chloe, Bryson and Ryan; three sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Laurel Grove Cemetery.

“Go and spread your wings, for you can now spend eternity with your loved ones and friends who left this world, so long ago, in the Great Beyond.”


GLEN ROY HUFF

NORTON, VA – Glen Roy Huff, 68 passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at his home on Rambler Road in the Thacker’s Branch community following a short illness. He attended Esserville Community Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Opal Kiser Huff, five brothers; Bobby, Bill, Ted Jr., Charles, and Donald, two sisters; Barbara Kelly, and Helen Duncan, one son; Jon Glen, one great granddaughter; Joy Hubbard.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Lena Culbertson Huff, two sons; Teddy and wife April, Freddy and wife Michelle, three granddaughters; Tiffany Hubbard and husband Ryan, Aundrea Church and Jessica Huff, two grandsons; Jeremy and Noah Huff, three great grandsons; Parker and Dean Church, Colt Hubbard, one brother; James Huff and wife Patsy of Bristol TN, three sisters; Shirley Culbertson and husband Ernest, Norma Gardner, Linda Robinson and husband Joe. A host of relatives and friends, also a very special person Pastor Danny Smith.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton.  A funeral service will be conducted 7:00 PM Sunday February 4, 2018

in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Jim and Danny Smith officiating. Burial will be in the American Legion Cemetery in Powell Valley at 11:00 AM on Monday February 5, 2018. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 am Monday to travel in procession to the cemetery.
