INEZ BOUTON

APPALACHIA, VA - “Well done my good and faithful servant”.  Inez Bouton, 81, loving wife of James Bouton, has gone to be with her savior on Monday, July 30, 2018. Inez is preceded in death by her parents Roy and Viola Barnette and her brother John Paul Barnette.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Bouton; a son Bryan Bouton and his wife Debra; grandchildren; Tracy Bouton Miller, Brittany Hermantin and Jennifer Bouton Garrett and husband Keith, Bryan James Aaron Bouton and wife Beth as well as great grandchildren; Julianna and Bryson, Logan and Chandler, and Zachery, Gabby, and Emily; her sisters Nezbeth Sturgill, Dorothy Stidham, and twin sister Irene Caudill; and her brothers Ron and Don Barnette

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, at First Apostolic Church in Appalachian, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm Thursday at the church with Pastors Johnny Flanary and Emil Schenck officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 12 noon Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, Va. Family and friends will meet at the church by 11:15 am Friday to travel in procession to the cemetery.


RECA SUE HAYES

NORTON, VA - Reca Sue “Susie” Hayes, 54, died Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Norton Community Hospital.  She was the daughter of Emory L. and Iva Mae McCoy Hayes.  Reca was a graduate of Coeburn High School.  She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Bentley Harrison Hayes and Johnny Wayne Hayes; her paternal grandparents, Asa S. and Caroline McCoy Hayes; and her maternal grandparents, William Harrison McCoy and Eva Belle Hileman McCoy.

Survivors include her “Mom”, Lenora Crabtree, whom she had known since high school, “Sissy” Joyce Gilliam and Louis Manatu, both of who have been there for her for several years, helping her throughout her fight against the illness that she finally succumbed to..  Both Lenora and Joyce encouraged her, made sure she kept her appointments, at times taking her to them, as did her cousin, Linda Hayes.  She also leaves behind several additional cousins.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Norton Community Hospital and others who assisted in any way, including her many friends at the Norton Green Apartments.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Monday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton.   The funeral service will be at 7 PM in the funeral home chapel, with the Reverend Scott Gillenwater officiating.  Family and friends will meet at 10 AM Tuesday at the funeral home, where they then travel in procession to the Hayes-McCoy Cemetery on Sandy Ridge for burial at 11 AM.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN  38105.


LENA FRYE

NORTON, VA – Lena Faye Frye, 74, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. Lena attended Esserville Community Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvel Culbertson Flanary and Maxie Viola Pannel Flanary; her brothers, Clint Flanary and Dan Foust

She is survived by a daughter, Joy Robinson and her husband Dennis of Wise, VA; two sons, Allen Culbertson Blevins and his wife Carla of Fayetteville, NC, Jeffrey Proulex and his wife Chantay of Coeburn, VA; five grandchildren including Noel and Alex Robinson; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Ben Harold Flanary and his girlfriend Win Frasure of Hicksville, OH, and Sidney Flanary and special sister-in-law Debra of Wise, Va.; a sister, Judy Sluss and her husband William of Coeburn, VA; a half-brother, Bernard Salyers of Oklahoma; a half-sister, Barbara Weber of West VA; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Patty Skinner and a special friend, Shirley Perrigan.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted 2 pm Sunday, July 22, 2018, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Danny Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton.


T.D. LASSITER, JR.

NORTON, VA – Memorial Service for T.D. Lassiter, Jr. will be conducted at 3 pm Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Blackman Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, 313 Kentucky Ave, Norton, Va., with Rev. Sandra L. Jones officiating.


FAYE L. WOOD PHILLIPS

NORTON, VA - Faye L. Wood Phillips,79, went to be with her LORD and Savior July 8, 2018 at her home, with her husband, children, and grandchildren by her side.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert A. and Mabel Price Wood, her daughter, Janet Phillips, and her brothers, James R. Wood and Lewis Wood.  Faye was a retired CNA with the former St. Mary’s Hospital, was a homemaker, and was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Elmer Earl Phillips, her children:  Margie H. (Allen) Carter, Norton, VA, Roderick Earl (Monique) Phillips, Vinegrove, KY, Peggy Sue “Susie” (Allen) Kelsey, Bristol, TN, Jean P. (John) Hill, Louisville, KY, Willie Wayne (Angel) Phillips, Norton, VA, and Crystal P. (Allen) Lark; a host of loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, four brothers, and two sisters.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton.  A funeral service will be at 7 PM in the funeral home chapel, with the Reverend Darrell Bolling officiating.  Family and friends will gather by 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the funeral home, where they will then travel in procession to the Laurel Grove Cemetery for burial.


JESSE JAMES

NORTON, VA – Jesse Allen James, 75, was born in Verdi, KY to the late Sparkle Robinson and Allen James, Jr.  He was called home on July 3, 2018.  Jesse was a longtime member of Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir.  He was a retired Materials Management Supervisor for Bell Atlantic (formerly C&P Telephone Co., which is now Verizon).

Jesse is survived by his former wife, Bernice Livingston James, his children: Tonya Teasley, Gregory James, Sr., Gwendolyn James, and Crystal (Keith) Babb; a brother, Terry Young, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a niece, Terran Young, and a special friend, Rusty Hayes.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 PM Wednesday, July 11 at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. A funeral service will follow at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be at the Laurel Grove Cemetery.


RICHARD BLOOMER

NORTON, VA – Richard Dawayne Bloomer, 54, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his father, Broudis Bloomer; two brothers, Bobby Bloomer and Joey Bloomer; and a sister, Patsy Mefford.

He is survived by mother, Ruby Bloomer Trinkle; three brothers, Kenneth Bloomer of Norton, Va., Tommy Bloomer of Appalachia, Va., Mark Bloomer and his wife Michelle of Big Stone Gap, Va., two sisters, Dinah Bates and her husband David, and Judy Bloomer all of Norton, Va.; seberal nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tony Nunley and Rev. Hunter McFarland officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 am Monday, July 9, 2018, at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 am Monday to travel in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be, Donald Miles, Lawrence Mathias, Troy Benson, Travis Bates, Broudis Bates (Peanut) and Mark Bloomer.
