SALLY ANNE STRATTON

NORTON, VA – Sally Anne Stratton, 75, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2018, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Stratton of Norton, Va.; a son, Ray Stratton and his wife Misty of Wise, Va.; a grandson, Tavish Maddock Stratton of Wise, Va.; a brother, Keith Andrews of Oregon.

The family will receive friends from 5-6 pm Monday, Oct. 1, 2018, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 6 pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Greg Sergent officiating.

Burial will be Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, in the Our Mother of Sorrow Catholic Cemetery in Reno, NV.


IRENE CAUDILL

NORTON, VA – Irene Caudill, 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at NHC Healthcare in Johnson City, TN. Irene was a member of the First Apostolic Faith Church of God in Appalachia, Va. where she sang in the choir. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Roy and Viola Thompson Barnette; her husband, Paul Caudill; her bother, John Paul Barnette and her sister Inez Bouton.

Surviving are her daughter, Rita Allan and her husband Bernie of Piney Flats, TN; her grandchildren, Cristel Ledford and Paul Joseph Allan; her great grandchildren, Josie Ledford, Emmy Allan, Luke Allan and Laney Ledford; her brothers, Don and Ron Barnette; her sisters, Nesbith Wood and Dorothy Stidham and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at the First Apostolic Faith Church of God, 403 Callahan Ave, Appalachia, VA. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 PM in the church with Rev. Johnny Flanary officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 am Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, Va. Family and friends will meet at the church by 10:15 am Sunday to travel in procession to the cemetery.


DANIEL RICHARD MOORE, SR.

NORTON, VA – Daniel Franklin Richard Moore, Sr., 71, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Alma Hinkle.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Moore of Norton, Va.; two daughters, Gretchen Mullis and her husband Tony of Norton, Va., Christina Addington and her husband Joseph of Wise, Va.; ten grandchildren; a brother Michael Johnson of North Carolina.

The family will receive friends from 5-6 pm Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 6 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tony Nunley and Rev. Darrell Bolling officiating. Private committal services will be conducted later.


DOTTIE LOU MICKLES

NORTON, VA – Dottie Lou Mickles, 72, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY following a long illness.

Dottie was a lifelong resident of Norton and Wise County, born to the late Troy and Nora Estep Pike.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Terry Mickles and brothers and sisters:  Thomas Pike, Kelly Barlow, Helen Bevins, Lee Thompson and an infant sister.  Dottie was a devoted member of the Ramsey FWB Church.

She is survived by her children and spouses: Rita and Kent Adams, Wise, VA, Teresa and Danny Hughes, Coeburn, VA, Joseph and Linda Mickles, Coeburn, VA, and Teddy and Amanda Mickles, Norton, VA, her partner, Paul Miller and his children, Daniel Miller, Kathy and Joseph Wireman, and Flora and Thurman Underwood, all of Norton, VA; her brothers and sisters and spouses: Nancy and Riley Oakes, Norton, VA, Bobby Pike, Buddy and Betty Pike, and Ruby Adams, all of Richmond, VA. She has a combined total of 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Sunday, September 23 at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Her funeral service will be at 7 PM in the funeral home chapel, with the Reverend Randy Carter and the Reverend Benny Boles officiating.  Graveside burial rites will be at 11 AM Monday in the Laurel Grove Cemetery.  Family and friends will gather by 10:30AM Monday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home and will then travel in procession to the cemetery.


KENNETH LEE ROBERTS

NORTON, VA - Kenneth Lee Roberts, 71, died Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Kenneth was a retired coal miner and was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee Roberts and Vivian Marie Wells Roberts, and a sister, Lois Gibson.

Kenneth is survived by his sons, Brandon Roberts, Norton, VA, and Dustin Roberts and his wife, Codetta Roberts, St Paul, VA; his granddaughters, Brayleigh and Kayleigh Roberts, his sisters, Judy Roberts and Tammy Kelley; and his brothers, Tony Roberts and Randall Roberts.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton.  Military graveside honors will be at 1 PM Wednesday at the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, with the Virginia Army National Guard Honors Team and local veterans’ service organizations providing honors.  Family and friends will gather at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home by 12:30 PM Wednesday where they will then travel in procession to the cemetery for the graveside service.


LEOLA WOOTEN

NORTON, VA – Leola Wooten, 91, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Nova Health and Rehab in Weber City, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, James G. Phipps and Laura Phipps; her husband of 57 years, Maurice Lee Wooten; two brothers, Ralph and Leslie Phipps; and one sister, Myrtle Forrester and her great grandson, John Patrick Witt.

Leola graduated from Norton High School and then she attended Milligan College where she met her husband. She retired from Verizon where she met many wonderful friends.

Leola was a charter member of the City of Norton’s Beta Sigma Phi, receiving many honors for community service, Founder’s Day and the order of the rose. Leola was crowned Valentine Queen three years in a row. Leola and her sorority started many service organizations in the City of Norton to include the Garden Club and Make Norton Beautiful. Leola was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving many years as secretary and treasurer.

Leola’s love was her church and faith in God. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Norton, Va.

She is survived by her two children; son, Mark Wooten and daughter Lisa Robinette and her husband Mike; four grandchildren, Whitney Witt and her husband John, Andrew Wooten and his wife Kayla, Aaron Gardner and Maggie Wooten. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Jordana and Emily Witt, Josie Gardner and Brayden Wooten.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4 pm Sunday, September 9, 2018, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Norton with Preston Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately afterward in the church fellowship hall. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 10 AM Monday, September 10, 2018, at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Va.
